Centrally located on Flinder's Street within close distance to trams and trains, it was easy to go anywhere in Melbourne. Within walking distance are many shops and cafes. The room was a quiet haven away from the noise and busyness of the city. The incredible architecture and historic features in the hotel made it really special. Our room had super high ceilings, with ornate detailing, gorgeous lead light high arched windows and a great shower. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast each morning was generous and varied. We were there for a week and I sometimes made use of some quiet seating nooks on the first floor to do some writing near the beautiful central dome.

The photos of the Rendezvous are totally accurate, this is a lovely old hotel that oozes old time charm, I loved it. My room was large with a decent bathroom, tea and coffee facilities and a fridge plus air conditioning and a safe, even a hairdryer and an iron with full size board! The bar and restaurant are excellent and not overly expensive, the location is opposite Flinders Street station so travelling around the city is so easy, the tram stops a few yards away which makes things so simple. There are so many places to eat and drink in the locality, you are spoilt for choice! I must say the staff are all great too, helpful, friendly and efficient.

I had a wonderful stay and really appreciated the thoughtful wedding anniversary congratulations from the staff. The small gift of sparkling wine to welcome the New Year was a lovely surprise, which I understand is a special gesture for guests during this time. The location was ideal, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the service was outstanding. Overall, it was a memorable experience, and I would definitely recommend it to others.

The staff were happy to hold our bags as we were a few hours early before check in and even called us when the room was ready ahead of time AND had our bags taken to our room for us! Just wow! The breakfast buffet was really good, plenty of choices of hot or cold meals which differed daily. All of our interactions with staff were fantastic and no request was too difficult.

They upgraded us to the best room in the hotel (The Tompkins master suite) with a complementary bottle of wine We cannot rate this hotel enough!!
